Our Story

Sixteen years ago, following the passing of her husband, Michael Negrin, Robin Negrin met with our beloved Rabbi Emeritus James (Jim) Mirel to bring his long-held vision to life—an interconnected, multigenerational community that walks with you through life, from the earliest years to older adulthood. Education had been Michael’s passion, and a preschool became the perfect gift to TBT from his estate. They envisioned a dedicated space where the youngest children could learn and grow in a nurturing Jewish environment—one that would lay the foundation for lifelong connection and learning. That vision, planted years ago, has now blossomed into Solomike Early Childhood Center (SECC).

The name Solomike carries deep meaning. Michael (‘Mike’) Negrin, known for his kindness and generosity, was born Solomon Negrin in Greece in 1951. As a child, he was affectionately called ‘Solomike,’ a nickname that remained throughout his life. After his passing in 2009, Robin’s children suggested honoring his memory by using the name that reflected his roots, his warmth and his spirit. The grand opening of this center, taking place the day before his birthday, is a tribute to his enduring impact.

In 2023, our congregation voted unanimously to create the SECC; today, that vision is a reality. We extend heartfelt thanks to project managers Elliot Paull, Brent Carson, and Marshall Brumer, whose tireless efforts—from capital campaign to construction—made this possible. Their commitment and leadership have ensured that every detail of this center is of the highest quality.
